This is a proposal (Timber SCM method) for timber production as a system. The goal of this method is not only to reduce inventory by overproduction and reserve inventory for less undersupply simultaneously but also to stabilize and accelerate log procurement speed.

Timber flow along supply chain is stabilized always with this method. So facilities for process, inventory, and logistic needs minimum scale theoretically. Management resources can be operated efficiently based on decision making with stabilized timber flow and minimum facilities scale.

Cash flow along supply chain is stabilized, since log procurement speed is regulated by ROI with stabilized timber flow. In the case of a boom, because of high ROI, the speed is calculated high and lumber is prepared much for sale. General supply chain faces Bullwhip effect that is demand fluctuation communication from downstream to upstream with distortion. If the speed is decided under such a supply chain, it swings larger than demand fluctuation. So, Cash flow confuses always.

Forestry sector receives sustainable budget on condition that some part of stabilized Cash flow is converted to cost from planting to harvesting. The budget covers all the expenses of forestry sector, while all the cost of forestry sector is a capital investment that will be returned with a profit as Cash flow in the future. Long term view is suitable for forestry sector to return a capital investment effectively. For instance, considering logistic cost, it is important that harvesting place is close to log stock yard. Planting after harvesting place means cost cutting by shortening transport distance.

Conclusion is that Timber SCM method guides stabilized capital investment in forestry sector effectively by both stabilized timber and Cash flow and minimum facilities scale. Effective investment suggests much investment and much profit based on long term view with wealthy forest growing stock.

Your country grows and develops economically. Forestry sector will face cheap imported timber with vast forest. At that time, forestry sector will be able to supply log to not only construction but also bio energy generation and high function carbon production. Such multi log utilization will be risk hedge for forestry sector. It will be important to provide agile service to compete against cheap imported timber. Timber SCM method will come up to expectation of such agile operation by both stabilized timber and Cash flow.
